Hi Steve,
Good to hear it's al going well for you. You can go simply for the 20mm fixwed rear sway bar, but it doesn't allow you to fine tune the handling to suit your individual driving preference. Adjustable sway bars also allow to fine tune your handling to suit the rest of your suspension, as well as future upgrades. Furthermore, specific for your much varied driving conditions, the adjustable sway bar will allow you to set it on soft setting at the drag strip for maximum traction, and a stiffer setting for street for better cornering.

Wojtek.

hi m8, good to hear :-)
as long as the fixed anti roll bar won't induce to much over steer, this sounds like the one for me.
is the fixed rate bar on par with one of the settings of the adjustable bar?

tell me does the suspension, springs and shocks, drop a little more, even after you have been out for a drive?
im sure it appears to of dropped 20mm so far, only fitted the fronts so far though

TIA

Hi Steve,
Both non-adjustable and the adjustable sway bars for ST165 are 20mm in diameter, where the non-adjustable is the equivalant to the middle setting on the adjustable (3 holes per side).

At first I thought you were refering to the suspension droop... but I think you are asking about the ride height. Yes, straight after lowering a car onto the ground, after it has been raised with the wheels at full droop, the grip of the tyres are "holding" the car up. So, driving or even rolling the car a few meters will release this tension and settle the suspension down. New springs and shocks will need further driving to settle-in.

hi, Wojtek

thanks for all your help thus far :-0

indeed i was talking about the ride height.
only driven it once so looks like it will settle a little lower with a bit more driving :-)

i think the fixed rear bar is for me, although is the softest setting on the adjustable bar equivalent to a slightly thicker stock bar?

thanks for your help

ok update...

all four corners have been fitted now, didn't take to long to get the rears on either!
im using st 185 rear shocks, known good ones with a kyb part number, listed as oe after market jobbies.

went out for a bit of a drive round the country lanes and WOW feels loads better and alot more stable under heavy braking!
would appear the suspension has dropped a touch more also :-)

i still have the anti lift/castor kit to fit as well!
this will cut down on understeer etc?

my next question, i ordered a front strut brace (whiteline) from demon tweeks today but im thinking the money might be better spent on a rear anti roll bar, seeing as the car already has a brace?

any thoughts?

thanks for all the help:-)

Good stuff Steve!
Yes and yes.
Caster/Anti-lift kit will reduce understeer, sharper up your steering, improve high speed stbility, and increase grip.
Rear sway bar will give you more bang for your buck (pound :-)), as it will have a much bigger effect on handling by significantly reducing understeer. And as you say, your car already has a front strut brace on.

hey Wojtek...
ok looks like the order will be changed tommorow then :-)
hope you have the anti roll bars in stock!

just still unsure on which to go for?
the car will be used on road 95% of the time and as said a few posts back possibility of drag and when the brakes are sorted track days..

hmmmm adjustable i think is the way to go..
small amount more to pay i believe

only a few more questions then you will be rid of me ;-P
hehehe

Hi Steve,
We can normally dispatch sway bars within 3 to 4 days of receiving the order.
As you can see, there is only a small premium for the adjustable version of the rear sway bar, but I'll leave th decision up to you.

hi all, fitted the anti lift kit today and went out for a drive, was wet and lots of power slides!
would use to understeer but now feels alot better and easier to control!
does this move the wheel further forward in the wheel arch?
still need to get the alignment checked, guess i need to use the spec shown on the web site?
for occasional use should i get it set up for the touring spec?

placed the order for the rear anti roll bar ( BTR78Z adjustable) so you should get a request for one soon i hope :)

thanks again..
when all is fitted i will sort a writeup out for the "rave" section

Hi Steve,

We don't supply drop links with our ST165 sway bars, as the standard links are solid ball-joint type, and the rear adjustable sway bar works well with this.
Yes, the caster kit moves te wheel forward, and as per our instructions http://www.whiteline.com.au/docs/instructs/241_KCA376.pdf wheel alignment is required.
Touring wheel alignment specs are a good place to start with.

Wojtek.
