Hi,
I'm looking for technical specs of Whiteline lowering springs for a 1991 Mk1 Mazda MX5; spring rates (front/rear) and approximate lowering.

Hello saz9961,
Thank you for interest in Whiteline springs.
The springs that you have enquired about # 78306 front,
and # 78308 Rear, have the following spring rates - 222lbs/in front & 90lbs/in rear.
They will provide a lowering of your vehicle of aproximately 25 - 30 mm from the OE height.

Thanks; any particular reason why they are apparently softer than stock at the rear (my information has stock Mazda 1990 springs at 97 lb/in)?

Hello ,
I beleive it is because there is very little weight in the rear, there isn't the need for heavier springs than what we have come up with. The 7 pound of difference between OE and the Whiteline springs is negligeable and would not make very much difference.
Regards
Wayne
