this is a first time for me on this forum....I'm looking for suggestions on how to set up a suspension on a WRX Impreza wagon that would be suitable for a ralley...obviously I'd like to use Whiteline.....the Ralley is the Targa Newfoundland (run in Canada every September). We're starting with a 2002 low
milage car and want to set up something that works well, is reasonalbly competitive but works well on pavement (this entire race is on paved tarmac)...any suggestions regarding shock type, spring rates, sway bar sizing and anything related to improving handling. I would like this car to stay away from being a full blown ralley car. Cheers Paul Racine

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I'm not sure what your regulation limitations are and what tyres you will be using, but generally for a tarmac rally type racing I would suggest our Group'4 circuit spec coil-over kit which is designed with 5kg/mm front and 4kg/mm rear spring rates, or similar. As this is a race car, I would recommend slightly bigger swaybars then used in our Handling Packs, these being 24mm adjustable front and rear, together with any links and mounting brackets as required. Last but not least, I would suggest front anti-lift kit and rear camber kit and front and rear strut braces. This should be a good starting package for you, with many other options available if you want to go further. As far as set-up, ride heights and wheel alignemnt settings are listed in our fact sheets, but also in WRX / STi project car pages and reviews and articles on our website.
Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Regards,
Wojtek.

Wojtek: thanks for the reply...we are using soft compound rain tire...;I think RA-1's....can you explain a front anti-lift kit...I suspect this is to protect the front suspension from dropping too far while jumping the car...the limitations in the class we will be running in is that brakes/suspension are free, stock turbo...everyone chips and normally drops the cat for a freer flow....this class does not compete with factory cars or the unlimited where the engine has been heavily breathed on but encourages a fairly stock engine.....

Hi,
Our anti-lift kit is best explained in the following paper;
