hi,

i own a 1990 celica gt4. i'm after some good setup for my car, after some considerable squeek and bumps my lowered springs offers.
currently i've pedders low ryders on and still having stock shocks to accomodate for it. i like the low look which lowered it almost 2.5'', but i need to stiffen the chasis up since the elephant-of-a-car is heavy by nature.
i don't do much track work, but i love entering and out corners. this is my daily driver and require it to be comfortable.
Now, my question is i need a solution to replace my shock. that will be easy, just drive in, get the correct shocks and drive out. but what does that improve? what doesn't it improve? it's a 14 yr old car, and what chasis add-ons will help support itself?

sorry for the long post, and thankyou for reading.

regards
andy

G'day Andy,

Great to see that you?re up and running on the Forum :)

For the benefit of other readers I had referred Andy to the Fact Sheet on the Celica ST185 GT4 AWD together with an article on his car that we have available on our web site under 'your car'.

To lead the discussion off, it would seem that your first requirement may be a set of shocks that are capable of controlling your springs. Based on the suggested ride height, the shocks you select may have to be stroke adjusted. The shock inserts we recommend for your chassis have these characteristics.

To be in a position so that you can set your chassis up so that it will handle - we suggest you start with a rear Blade adj swaybar, replace the front swaybar bushes, the rear trailing arm bushes, and fit front and rear camber adjusting bolt kits.

Next up some chassis stiffening with front and rear strut tower braces and replace the front lower control arm bushes.

Then its an accurate wheel alignment and take it for a thrash :) The difference will be amazing :)
