Hi
I have a VC commodore 5L Turbo with over 400hp at the treds and want to start racing it agian with the new engine combo.

Now i have all Ajustable Koni Shocks and Adjustable Front and rear K-Mac Sway Bars also K-Mac Top Hats at the front. Springs are Custom but well pased there used by date. Also have New White line Panard Rod.

Now this setup was ok but it seems to just hold on whith about 250hp now it need a re Vamp.

Now that i want to get a new setup i want to go with coil overs on the front but i would like to Know what type of Spring to use as well as Shock setup. also at the rear would like an adjustable spring setup and Shock but need to know what would work best.

What would work best for Circuit and drag. i use BF Goodrich Profile for circuit and M/T 9" Wide Slicks for Drag.

Also need new Top hats that are solid with nothing that can "CRACK"

Also with the new power the Pinion Angle needs adjusting to help Major tramping problems.

Also Rear Sway bar setup how does it work? Loose to tight?

If you could help out that would be great.

Thanks Rhys

Hi Rhys,

I'm not aware of the tyres that you mentioned. What are BFG Profiles? Are they street tyres or semi-slicks?

The tyres that you use will determine the spring rates that you will need. In general, for your car I would suggest;
- street tyres - 200>300 / 200>300 lbs/in front/rear
- semi-slicks - 350>450 / 250>350 lbs/in front/rear
- full slicks - 550>700 / 350>500 lbs/in front/rear

SPRINGS & SHOCKS
You have a few options for the springs/shocks, but watever you decide on it is going to be a custom job. There are no coil-over kits off-the-shelf that we know of for your car. As you already have Koni Sports, you may want to use them as the basis for your coil-over converstion, which you can service and revalve to suit your tyres, springs and sway bars. Alternatively, buy brand new Bilstein shocks, which are better suited to your requirements due to their mono-tube design. However, you will still need to have these re-valved and modified to adapt to your coil-over conversion. Which ever option you choose, I cannot stress enough, that you carefuly look at what ride height range you are most likely to set your car at, and consequently how much bump travel that will give you. I suspect, that you will be after a 1.5>2 inch drop, and if so, then I strongly suggest that you have the shocks modified to reduce shock BODY lenght, as well as shortening the struts to suit. As for the rear, if you really want/need to have coil-overs, then you will need to strenghten the chassis/shock mounts. Again, we don't offer these, so hava a look around, or get something custom made.

SWAY BARS
I suggest you use adjustable sway bars, 27mm front and 22mm rear. The adjustment function is very important and necessary tuning tool.

ALIGNMENT KITS & OTHERS
- front top plates - adjustable. We only offer bushes top adjustable mounts. You will need to look around to see if you can find solid tops.
- performance (shorter) adjustable radius rods. Our kits increase caster from 0.5 to 2.0 degrees.
- Panhard rod - adjustable (which you already have)
- Performance adjustable rear upper trailing arms - allow for diff pinion angle and anti-squat geometry adjustment.
- Replace ALL bushes wth polyurethane.
- Roll cage / front strut brace

I hope this gives you some ideas and a general over view, but as you can see, you will really have to front up with your car to a race/chassis/suspension specialist, as this is best left to the experts who are experienced in this field.

Wojtek.

Thankyou that has given me a better direction. I have spoken to a guy in the know and i neet to Weight the Car to get the corner weight which should help me with my Spring Setup. and now need to sort out the travel and height.

So what can White line Offer?
Coil Over kit? is it do it your self? (Weld On)
Front Caster Fit (Yes?)
Strut Brace?
Upper Control Arms Adjustable? (Rear)

Thanks Rhys

Hi Rhys,

I'm glad you're on the right track.

As for what can Whiteline offer....

have a look at the fact sheet for your car first,
